Common Denominator Poem by Diana van den Berg

Common Denominator

There have been the flower-days
and the tree-days
and the rollercoaster-days
and the sun-days on the swings
and the roundabouts
and the hide-and-seek-days
in laughter and tears
and the fun-days in forests and meadows
and the sand castle on-the-beach-days
and the corner-shop meeting days
and the song-days and the whisper-days
and the fragile-heart word-days
and sky-touch exhilaration-days
and the finger-tip caress-days
and the soft-eyed kiss-days
and the pillow-talk closeness-days
and the melting-hot passion-days
and the glass-sparkle dawns
and the simmer-soft dusks
and the deep silent night-days
but what doesn’t change
is that there is
always
us.
