Compassion Poem by Robert Siney

Compassion

Let’s open our ears and hearts,
To our colleagues and friends who are falling apart,
Those who need but cannot find,
Much needed help for their distressed mind.

Problems can be solved if we,
Spend time with a casualty,
Of pain or guilt, or love or shame,
Too many diagnosises to name,
But other people are essential when,
One is feeling inadequate or troubled again.

Must we continue our selfish way,
Of failing to give after we take?
It takes little effort to lend an ear,
Ignorance is a realistic fear,
But nobody’s black and nobody’s white,
Everyone’s wrong and everyone's right.

And help is possible if we want to share,
The wonderful gifts of compassion and care,
It would mean the world to somebody who,
Had no-one who loved them before there was you.
