Compassion Squeezed Poem by Gary James Smith

Compassion Squeezed

Compassion Squeezed

Compassion squeezed out every last ounce
Of love the Lord Jesus had
He poured it out most lavishly
On both the good and the bad
Love reinforced the worth of it all
The highest price of sin's cost
The God-man laying His life on the line
That day on the old rugged Cross
The God-man laying His life on the line
That day on the old rugged Cross

Love shone forth in marvelous light
Until darkness covered the land
When God had to shut the view from His eyes
For sin He could not stand
And on that day of reckoning
A new beginning was about to unfold
When a glorious Resurrection plan
Would be the happiest story ever told
When a glorious Resurrection plan
Would be the happiest story told

Mark it down as significant
For it became significant to me
When my saving faith in Jesus Christ
Wrought Salvation and Victory
My faith the purest substance
My God's eternal reality
My wonderful Lord...my wonderful Lord
Praise God He now lives in me
My wonderful Lord...my wonderful Lord
Praise God He now lives in me

Compassion squeezed out every last ounce
Of love the Lord Jesus had
He poured it out most lavishly
On both the good and the bad
Love reinforced the worth of it all
The highest price of sin's cost
The God-man laying His life on the line
That day on the old rugged Cross
The God-man laying His life on the line
That day on the old rugged Cross!

Each day I'm totally overwhelmed
By the love Lord Jesus has for me
That evenin spite of all my sin
His grace has been sufficient for me
The pain He took for the pain I caused
Demands my full surrender
To be forgiven by Him as such
Will be a day I will always remember
To be forgiven by Him as such
Will be a day I will always remember

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
