Concepts 12 Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Concepts 12

A small stone thrown in calm waters
Create ripples throughout its surface
A choice of words uttered in bad taste
Spoils the moods causing deep anguish

A face that was seen never before
Creates comfort when approached casually
Some other evokes disliking even from a distance
Inbuilt are inherent likings and hatred in human minds

A sense of joy inexplicable erupts within
In completing a task all by oneself with no help
Fruits of labor need not be in kind or form always
A few words of appreciation suffice to fade out the hardships

Taken to the pool a horse cannot be forced to drink water
By arranging all the needs a student cannot be forced to study
By providing all the comforts a lazy cannot be forced to work
Desire within that matters most, not outside impacts or influences

A shine in the brain rains the ideas of accolades
A drain in the brain maims the quality of any venture
A will to succeed forms the gate way to success
Imitations last never long for that has its own limitations
