Contagion Poem by Kelly Kurt

Contagion

Rating: 4.4

It spreads
Coughing and sneezing, not vectors
Dogma, ideology, ignorance
Selfishness, stupidity
Spread the true disease
Religion
No longer Osiris
Zeus, Apollo, Thor
How silly would that be
No; after 30,000 years of civilization
Finally
The one (or two, or three)true gods
We cough on our young
Spewing this irrational infection
Disabling them, perhaps for life
I have recovered
My antibodies are life-saving
A dose of rationality
Common sense
Experiential reality
The injection stings momentarily
Then
Recovery
The prognosis
Freedom
Equality
Peace
