Coon Skin Caps Poem by Lauren Coles

Thanks goodness that soldiers nowadays don't have wear coon skin caps,
Davey Crockett was one of the people who had to wear them,
I feel sorry for the animals whose lives were cut short,
Coon skins caps must have made people's heads itchy,
Army helmets of today are more comfortable today,
People can disinfect the animals to get rid of germs,
It was a lot harder during Davey Crockett's time period,
Coon skin caps are less common if only we could go back in time to spend a day in their shoes.
