Coronavirus Isolation Poem by Emmanuel Karikoga

Coronavirus Isolation

There are two sides of the coin but none are favourable odds,
Its either you are affected or infected and that's the whole story,
But there is a chance you might live,
If your immune system outwit the disease.
However, the choice to live doesn't rest within our own reach,
Waking up everyday, realising that you can still breath,
Is more than a blessing that should be appreciated each day.

Isolation is more painful than the virus,
Society putting a stamp and declaring that your'e no longer part of us,
Is there a jail more worse than being emotionally convicted?
At least your'e provided food, sometimes you don't feel lonely or segregated.
So you stay alive, hoping someday you might be re-admitted,
To society and live life like ever before.

Thoughts of how you contracted the virus occupy your brain,
While survival strategies top the list of your priority plan.
Sometimes you check the internet;
All you see is how people with well developed health systems are crumbling,
You became stressed, assessing your probability of living,
Cause it takes more that a ventilator,
So you kneel down, ask for intervention from the Creator.

To make things happen, sometimes it only takes a leap of faith,
The longer you survive, the more you kneel down and pray.
Social media is ablaze with different messages,
Some are with you & some are not sure if you are going to make it.
But my message to social media stays the same;
*STAYHOME, STAYSAFE, COVID-19 IS REAL*.
Cause its not just the virus kills;
But it's the isolation part that destroys both mortal & immortal part of you.
