Court visit
Friend asked for favour
-I went there unaware
-wanted my signature
-as witness, on papers.
I sat there in waiting
-as always, observing
-the people go- coming
-and the things happening
Eight windows and in them
- (if ever occupied!)
-women who appeared
-look-alike of the files
-they shifted and handled
-no feeling and senseless
Clients sat in chairs
-challenging problems
-in dreams; all mindless
Carless and feeling-less
-were many with bundles
-they joked, laughed; had files
- (of law firms)
-they did their business
-were experts…
Saw girl in
-black pants
-white jacket
Her actions, reactions
-when sitting in silence
-reminded the mountain
-volcano in tummy, with lava
-and ocean with her thoughts,
-with the waves ranging wild…
Neither asked nor learned of
-what was their relation! ! !
Went to talk with a lad
-well-behaved, Indian
He too had large bundle
-employed by lawyers
I asked him of the how
-informed him of myself-
-my plans, work, school
-of the law and legal…
I asked him of the way
- 'Corruption, corruption…
-corruption…' he replied.
'Some come and skip lines,
-they have good connections…
-unaware and others are ignored…'
In short meant:
- 'The two sides of windows
-practice and speak in same tongue!
-feel relaxed, friendly
-when they are with own kind…'
Came along, suddenly
-a young man, two police
-one ahead, showing way
-another following.
The youth was in handcuffs
-waved his hand for the one
-who was like mass of ice
-looked, frowned, silently
Saw the girl shocked at first
-then she ran to observe
-I noticed their file; it was thick
I wondered… 'Who is he? '
- 'At odds felt with such things;
-a poet, I rather, prefer remaining! '
