Covering Ourselves With Lies Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

We are being lied to
by the government,
by marketers,
and sometimes
even by our own
friends and families.

The worst lies,
however, are
the ones that we
tell ourselves.

Even though we expect
everyone else to
be honest to us,
we often cover ourselves
in lies because we are
afraid of facing
uncomfortable truths.

Based on those lies,
we try to escape reality
by ignoring aspects of
ourselves that are
crucial to who we are.
