Covid-19 Restrictions Being Eased Poem by Deanna Samuels

Covid-19 Restrictions Being Eased

The restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being eased
Is it too soon, we ask, should we have waited a few more weeks
Having been so careful these past two months
Will our caution be compromised and have been for nothing

Garden centers have opened to stock up on plants and seeds
Social distancing with masks the only criteria to heed
Hardware stores can hand out street door pick-ups
Retail of whatever sort can trade if entrance on high street

No Malls to open allowing indoor access to stores from within
Full veterinary services as well as parlors for pet grooming
Marinas, golf clubs opened but with strict regulatory distancing
Parks now accessible for the public to sit, play, walk and run

Car showrooms fully operational to invite customers within
Vehicles such as snowmobiles, motorcycles, bicycles that make a din
All construction, media and video, publishing, electronics, botany
Scheduled surgeries, laboratories, counselling, even cook and nanny

But again, is this all too soon to take such chance
Government experts fully expect a further surge advance
Is it worth putting lives in danger to get the economy managed
Or is it just a term that they would call it - collateral damage!
