Covid-19 Poem by Sharon Caradice

Covid-19

COVID -19

Back in June 1940 so heroically said they should fight on the beaches instead. Now it is straightforwardly said if you get sick we haven't got a spare bed - so keep off the beaches before we are all dead!

Twas the year 2020 just before the Spring, a pandemic of fatal flu did begin.
One so new it had no cause or cure - It started in China months before!
Got to grips with killing here and there. No one knew - so it then spread elsewhere.
Nurse Sue saw this coming it was kept all hush hush - we were kept in the dark - enough is enough.
So what if the beaches are all dead ……… Our British morale is here instead.
England stopped all flights folk started seeing red! Large gatherings are knocked on the head.
Stronger strain stays on surfaces to spread - leaving vulnerable and ill in a N.H.S. bed.
Knocks the fit and healthy for six. Sky once said it does not care who it picks!
Social distance began of about 6 foot, Don't worry C19 cant be spread by the mutt.
If you have the Corona Virus please self isolate, don't spread even more as too many have to date.
No more petting or walking hand in hand also garden parties and BBQ's have been banned.
Public houses all shut so pub crawls are no more. So don't go knocking on the Nightclub door.
World Health Org. need to find an antidote it's just the start of epidemics on a more serious note.
You can go out in the garden all you like - Stroll alone or go for a ride on your bike.
Only the once though or you get a fine - remember got to keep us Brits in line.
Cafes and fast foods were the first to close, as some folk are such bozo's.
Strict plans are in place to keep all safe, wash your hands well and disinfect your space.
Restaurants are making take out only - these days are so god damn lonely.
Stay with your household don't multitude - Travs 50th Party got cancelled - how rude.
Quite simply in these times 3 is a crowd - Unless from the same house then this is allowed.
Keep shopping trips to a low, even the Church is a no go. Workers are put on furlow.
Please with these rules and regs. we must all adhere or the LOCK DOWN will soon be here.
Panic buying means toilet rolls in short supply, I hear at M&S lounge wear's been the best buy.
Emergency appointments are to be kept, otherwise there'll be Illness overload effect.
Not to mention all with anxiety who have not slept or those who have just sat and wept.
If your poorly the docs are shut but don't get vexed - as the NHS are buckling as resources are so stretched. I have come out on top who'd have guessed! Honestly M&S have simply been the best with a rise in wage and a paid days rest! Folk have raised millions for the NHS, one 100 year old walked raised 30 million awww bless.
Captain Tom Moore is his name and philanthropy is his game made sure his Op. didn't make him lame.
Although this wont break Britains brains and braun, with devastating fatalities many may mourn.
Most say they've never taken the dog out so much, god help those who've socialising as their crutch!
Some are getting cabin fever cooped up like battery hens but we ain't going under so we won't get the Benz!
Workers purse strings are much tighter, it's said that the stars are shining so much brighter.
Nature is affected as birds minds are blown, never has there been so many folk stay home.
Still there is more to be said on a positive note - if you've not got your hands round your partners throat!
More time has been spent with our loved ones perhaps playing charades and baking buns!
Morley folk FaceBuk page will be in full swing with it's discussions, comments and curtain twitching.
Every day is really worse than a Sunday, stark eerie so mundane - but who is to blame?
5G testing - they really don't care - a escaped bug or worse Germ Warfare?
Causeways and roads and are all clear - Just like the Apocalypse is here
Talks of a baby boom in 9 months time, or murder rates going up of passion crime!
Being the UK of course we'll keep a stiff upper lip, after all this is only a minor blip
So after all this will China's city Wuhan got the blame now will the animal market get a ban?
