Crazy Weather Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Crazy Weather

One-hundred degree heat of this July day
forces living creatures to seek the shade
On a quest for relief and something to drink
Wishing for a relieving cool breeze to invade

Stay inside don't open any windows
Wish the air-conditioning was operational
Keep lights off they warm the hearth
Removing choice layers of clothing is optional

Clouds are beginning to dim the sky
Maybe there's a chance for a fresh shower
A thunder bolt sparks a spontaneous scream
The wind is fierce hope we don't lose power

A sudden downfall is rapidly thudding
wonderment questions the grape size hail
A cooling sensation slices through the heat
Intensity obliterates sight with a thick veil

A crazy crackle interrupts the electrical circuit
All at once sustained optimism abruptly sank
Numerals of the digital clocks are flashing
The television screen is unconsciously blank

As the forceful rains pass to the next county
An uncanny citrine yellow spotlight appears
Illuminating a night sky as though it was day
There is a quiet eeriness in the atmosphere

A sense of suspense looms directly overhead
The stillness is surreal all motion has ceased
A darkening calm follows as the west ignites
into a crimson sunset as worries are released
