Dear Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-40" is a poem that addresses the fundamental issues that we come across in the present society, we do live in. The poem commences with a description about the artificial environment we human beings live in. In fact, we lead a mechanical mode of life here in this world, often we are primed and engineered to a large extent. As per the way we are keyed, we lead our life here on this earth. Our lives do go through a set trajectory without any scope of creativity and out of the box thinking. The value system that is prevalent in our society brings forth the ideology of questionable nature because our values are manipulated to suit the interests of a world of artificial intelligence. Today individual freedoms are subservient and subordinate to the interests of the radicalised and homogeneous society. Our actions and reactions in the present society are controlled by elements bent upon to carry out their nefarious designs. There are certain systems, mechanisms, frameworks, institutionalised structures and patterns of life in the society that are to be chosen by us to lead a life here on earth, if we swim against the current or go out of the beaten track, then we have to face the dire consequences one way or the other. We can't chart out an independent line in this society of structures which are installed to serve the vested interests of certain elements of diabolic designs. As long as we serve and remain part of such mechanisms and machinations, we don't create a society which would promote creativity, independent thought patterns and lifestyles of sustainable nature. Today we are forced to see the world through jaundiced vision and binaries, not in a genuine and authentic way, that is a serious anomaly and misdemeanour we do face in this world, if not we become puddles of the dead systems of the world, which will ultimately create a world of negativity. In the present society, the values such as truth, tolerance, brotherhood, peace and credibility don't get reasserted rather they are subtly taken light of every now and then. We live in strange and peculiar time at present. Kudos to you for composing such a path-breaking literary work.

A LOOK AT LIFE-40

The society
in which I was born
the way I was groomed and socialised
to look at the world
made me what I am
a machine which confirms
to the values
of the larger society

All along I am taught and schooled
to look at the world
behave, interact and interpret
in a way
defined by society
to which I belong

With hands and legs
mind and conscience
deeply bound
I am to live a life
far away from me
Chained emotion, chained love
caged smile, caged feeling and tear
patterned behaviour, patterned interaction
I am supposed to love
live and endure

When I first looked at the world
through my own eyes
I felt it was not my eyes
through which
I was looking at
but through a pair of glasses
thickly coloured
by the norms and values of the society
I never saw the world as it was
but the way I was made to look it at

The values I inculcated stood in the way
and blurred my vision
since birth, I am in chains
chained in a golden chain
the dos and don't
sacred and profane of the society
to which I belong
