Culture: Our Dress, Our Food, Our Laws Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Culture: Our Dress, Our Food, Our Laws

Culture is our unique definition,
Our distinct identity as a nation,
That clearly defines us as a people,
A portrait that's clearly recognizable.

It's our forefather's signature,
The red in our blood that links
Our way of living, our land's treasure-
Written in time by our fathers' ink.

No one can take that away from us,
None can impose or force its dilution.
Culture is our being, like freedom so precious,
Culture is the fiber of our nation.

We cannot bow down just to please
Those who come here and refuse to adopt it,
Our dress, our food, our laws and our peace-
Their stay in our land, we may have to forfeit.
