Dad I Still Love You! Poem by Christopher Schlosser

Dad I Still Love You!

You used to tell me you love me.
Straight from the heart; full of passion.
But now you turn and walk away.
Choosing the bottle; out of fashion.
But I still love you dad.

You used to take me places.
Sharing in such great times.
Now you say you’re too tired.
Not giving my feelings a chime.
But I still love you dad.

Blood is thicker than water,
And whatever’s in that bottle you treasure.
Life may have left you with fire and anger,
A reason to let it all go.
But love is not lost for I still love you.

We used to walk the country for hours,
And you’d teach me all about the world.
Now you can’t even walk straight;
Head spinning with a swirl.
But I still love you dad.

I could always count on you;
For inspiration and direction.
You tell me you don’t know the answers.
Cause you can only offer rejection.
But I still love you dad.

Blood is thicker than water,
And whatever’s in that bottle you treasure.
Life may have left you with fire and anger,
A reason to let it all go.
But love is not lost for I still love you.

Written about my dear father who has now come to pass but had a rough last few years dealing with so much pain and troubles.
I love you Dad!
