Dancing Angel Poem by michael Smajda

Dancing Angel

Last night I was dancing with an angel.
Only this angel had no halo and had no wings.
While dancing, she was flighty as an angel.
And she was so beautiful among other things.

I was holding in my arms a piece of Heaven.
When she spoke, her voice was angelic in tone.
I did not want the music to stop playing.
I did not want to leave the dance hall alone.

So, I held on to her ever so tightly
So time would not flutter her away.
Then, I noticed the gold ring on her finger.
Though I was crushed, I had only this to say.

"I really enjoyed dancing with you, young lady.
I wish you much happiness in the future, as well."
I, then, left the dance hall alone in sorrow,
Without this angel I would have deeply loved, pray tell.
