Dark Day Poem by Paul Daniel

Dark Day

I've lived a thousand lifetimes,
Everynight when others sleep.
Always asking what it would take?
For me to dare to dream.

Feeling paraliysed and helpless.
Just staring at the wall.
Im crying out for help so loud it hurts
But no one hears my call.

My body moves through life empty
Feeling happy every once in a while.
Pretending life has meaning
As I force another smile.

I float through life every single day,
For it's all I've ever known.
Yet a ship is made a certain way
Designed so it can float.

But you see now even a ship needs direction
Someone standing behind the wheel.
I think I was born with that part missing.
I cant help the way I feel.

I've had every conversation,
There's no more thoughts to think.
And when reminded everyday is pointless,
I can finally take the hint.

So as I stand before my world tonight,
Charged with crimes of truth.
I pray I've lived a righteous life.
But I'm sorry, I just couldn't see it through....
