Dark Sparrow Poem by G J Salgado

Dark Sparrow

They thought she was just a human
But she proved them all wrong again
She created the sun only to watch it all burn down
Burning all bridges the earth was ash on the ground
When they knew what she was they wouldn't let her into their world
So she made them the greatest part of her own war
They looked at her too closely
And they all loved her too deeply

They were reaching out as she faded in
Into something else that's neither without or within
Of all the time she wasted
Of all the things they tasted
They were her sweetest revenge
Now they wanted to be more than friends
She refused to let them be a part of her world
They failed to show her their worth
They too once were human but still remembered what it felt like to know the truth
She reminisced about all of the years she had when she was with you
The scars on her face that couldn't be hidden
She hid behind everything that stayed forbidden
They belonged to her and the moon as they faded
She watched the sunrise until she became what they created
