David Barr, Hero Of Salisbury Poem by Paul Warren

David Barr, Hero Of Salisbury

So sad the stare looking out at me
Of one lost to his friends and family
A husband, father, colleague and friend
Knifed by an offender when he met his end

Clear are our memories of the Salisbury Interchange
When a stalker was cornered whilst acting strange
And two brave SAPOL officers David Barr and Jamie Lewcock
Went to arrest the offender and were in a struggle locked

During the fight David was stabbed in the heart
And was taken to hospital for treatment to start
But it was too late and he passed on
A true hero for SAPOL and deserving of this song

As the years go by and we reflect on things
In what it takes to wear the blue and all that bravery brings
Proudly remember the hero of Salisbury who fell
An example of courage we all should tell.
