Day After Day Poem by Rachel Brewer

Day After Day

Day after day,
This hunger eats away at me.
Eating me from the inside,
Because I cannot feed from the outside.
No way, I won’t take that risk,
Of making the disease permanent.
I need to though,
I’m so hungry.
I want to feed,
But feeding means killing,
Killing a person,
And I’m not prepared to do that.
Even if I must die.
Which I will.
If I have to.
Day after day,
I want to eat,
I want to eat, but the only thing I can eat,
Is horrible.
It makes me sick just thinking about it.
Drinking from a living source,
It’s wrong,
And I know it.
But I’m so hungry.
All I can do is watch,
Watch myself waste away,
Waste away,
Day after day
