If the waves of justice will not touch her feet
and calm her restless mind,
she will use her own hands to bend the rules
and get them on their knees
to answer for their crime;
and as every weighing scale tilts
on that side which holds more load,
they will have to bear
on their chests the weight of their negligence
which they enforced upon her child
as they tried to kill him
though they were three doctors
and not some circus clowns.
Yes, they were dragons: the three doctors;
and though by their profession,
by their jobs and their commitments
they were doctors,
they still forgot their professional ethics
while taking care of her son
who was a helpless patient
writhing in pain while on the hospital bed
he slept and waited to get well.
Further to leaving a appendicitis stump,
for a month after the surgery,
the three doctors played
their games and told her lies
that her son would be well
but that was far from the truth
as on that fateful day of the surgery
the doctor who had performed
the laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis
had already caused damage to her son
that as he lay there helplessly under anesthesia
on the Operation table
he was left to face further critical realities.
And while the mother waited for her son
to heal and get back on his feet,
she was unaware of his condition
and the risks he faced
but she could sense something was not done right
by that surgeon who operated upon her son.
But still she prayed a several times mumbling
every name of the saints she knew
to come to her son's rescue
but it was that fateful day
when the nightmare had already begun
and no one could foresee the negligence
that that surgeon doctor had imposed silently
upon her only son.
And for a full one month
neither the doctors nor the hospital
were revealing or explaining to her
why her son was still bleeding
from the stomach wound so persistently.
The other two doctors - one who was the Physician
and the second doctor- who was a Radiologist
opted to conceal the errors and neglect committed
by their laparoscopic surgeon friend
as they wanted to save their own skin
and not jeopardize each others jobs.
But she could sense their ploy, their connivance;
so she took her son for further investigations
to another clinic where she was informed
that her son was injured inside the abdomen
and hence he was bleeding.
Looking at the pathetic condition
of her son, she chose to rush him
to a bigger and a sophisticated hospital
where he had to undergo another major surgery
to save himself from the clasp of death.
Had she not to rush him for the next surgery,
her son would have not been alive today;
and now as she waits for justice
she will not give up
nor feel discouraged
nor nurture less vengeance towards those
three doctors who harmed her son
cause as she sleeps, she thinks of his pains,
she thinks of him and how silently he bore
the discomfort, the sufferings, the anguish
which no mother would ever like to witness
as a child born from her very own womb
is still a child in that mother's eyes
until that very last day of her breath.
