Days Of Old Poem by Carly Almonde

Days Of Old

The Days of old are a wonderful thing,
The days of old are the days of innocence,
Before the technology that created weapons, The years before discrimination,
The time when women were called ladies and maidens and Queens and princesses and duchesses, nobles,
The days when soldiers were called knights and rulers kings, and pages and counts, dukes, and nobles ruled over people,
Where everyone wasnt afraid of being killed in a bombing,
Or being shot at during school,
The children were taught respect for the elders,
They were taught to treat each other with dignity, What has happened since the day of old?
Where has all the respect gone?
Why does the children of today argue about learning education?
Cant they see that they are the lucky ones?
In the days of old,
There was peace,
There was love,
Heroes and most of all there was beauty,
Now flash back to today,
Peace?
There is little peace between the U.S. and other countries, especially in Iraq, Love?
Yes there is love,
But not that of which Shakespeare wrote,
Nor any other writers accounts,
The love of today is falsely represented through movie interpretation,
Heroes?
Maybe,
The police and the Fire department to those whom are in trouble,
But for those movie stars and music stars create images that heroes should not be made of,
Beauty,
Beauty in what?
Yes the scenery is wonderful, but where is the words,
The romances of olden days?
Is there any true beauty left here?
The days of olden were a time of peace,
Security,
But now there is no true security,
At any moment, you might be killed because of the development of technology, but what can citizens do?
Say 'President? Can you cancel all technology? '
And be put into a psyche ward?
We must suffer in quiet,
Wondering if someday,
When the world is ended,
If there will once again an age of innocence,
But there are those who know that answer,
So look to them before its to late,
The days of old were great, but time has continued on,
And all we can do is await fate,
For we are all in Gods hands now.
