The curtains draw on the dimming past,
As times bygone, I leave behind,
New ideas and paths ahead for me to see,
As doors of the future open up to me.
I seat reticently and examine the days gone,
Looking at all the wins and all the falls,
Things I hoped for and for, I wished,
Milestones I thought I would surely have reached.
Time really has passed, and these I can't regain,
But I look forward to the journeys I've to take
Tis a new dawn, for another year I'm grateful.
Although despondent I might feel for times lost,
Still, it is a blessing to see this new year,
And look forward to what in these days lies ahead.
