Days Seasons Pass Hung On A Clothes Line Poem by Terence George Craddock

Days Seasons Pass Hung On A Clothes Line

Rating: 5.0

on a fine hot sunny day when the sky
is blue not a cloud in the sky
the clothes well washed
in the washing machine taken out
hung on a line will dry
well baked dry
in beautiful warming sunlight
on winter morning soon after hung clothes

may steam with water vapour rising
in winter day drying not long after hung
out a strange happy steaming sight
to see on spring or autumn days clothes
first sun warmed will fast dry well breeze
wind caressed even faster on a summers

day clothes will fast dry
warm then happy hot to touch
on a winters day if left late clothes
will feel cold to touch may be taken inside
to air happy sunny day drying clothes
drying clean warm crisp on dark cloudy days
on rainy days clothes dried under shelter will not
dry well may take a day or two even sulk smell

with a tinge of unhappy no sun to dry
me melancholy the infamous strange musty
weird smell those cloudy days rainy
days not drying well laundry
women much work hot ironed sheets
to get them warm crisp hotel use happy

today after washing machine spins
drier a wet bundle of clothes
twice before waiting clothes
dryer takes up the task
an invention the dryer can
whip up a bundle of dried clothes
in less than half a happy
hour left in machine no effort required

this is a tale of weather time told
a tale of weather passing seasons
seasons told in time in clouds
in hot cold summer winter days
in sun shining in liquid sunshine
feeling sun hot heat or cold days changing

t makes me happy for the clothes, when I think that they are banners of everyday felicity and catchers of sun-warmth.
