πŸ’ Dear Ashley πŸ’ž Poem by James McLain

πŸ’ Dear Ashley πŸ’ž

There are times when the heart speaks in whispers, so soft,
Like the breath of the wind through the grass on a sunlit afternoon.
I sit beneath the sky, my feet bare upon the earth,
Feeling the pulse of the world, the quiet hum of life.
It reminds me of youβ€”of love, of happiness,
Of the times we've walked together under these same stars,
Our souls yoked by a bond no words could define.

Do you remember that night, when the moon was full,
Its light casting silver upon our faces,
And we felt, for once, as if we were free?
Free from the weight of the world,
Free from the doubts that sometimes cloud our hearts,
Free from the yoke that life can so often place upon us.
In those moments, love felt like the windβ€”
Boundless, unshackled, and alive.

I've always believed that love should feel this way,
Like the grass beneath our feet, soft yet steady,
Like the stars above, distant yet so intimately close.
And with you, it has been just thatβ€”
A quiet joy, a happiness that blooms from within,
A love that moves with the rhythms of the earth.

We've spoken often of our dreams, haven't we?
Of the lives we wish to lead, the paths we hope to follow.
I see them now, as clearly as the constellations,
Each step marked by the promise of something moreβ€”
Something that only love can bring.
With you, every dream feels within reach,
Every hope, as light as the breeze through the trees.

I think of how we've grown together,
Two souls learning, unlearning, and becoming.
We've yoked ourselves to love, yes,
But in doing so, we've also found a freedom
That comes only when two hearts are in harmony.
It's a paradox, isn't it? To be bound and yet free,
To be tethered, and still feel the wind in our hair.

The grass beneath my feet still sings of that freedom,
And the stars overhead remind me of the vastness of it all.
Love, I've come to understand, is not a cage,
But rather, it is the very thing that sets us free.
And with you, I am free at last.
Free to love without fear, without hesitation,
Free to walk this earth with joy, with peace.

Ashley, you are the moon that lights my darkest nights,
The grass that cushions my every step,
The stars that guide me when I feel lost.
And as I sit here, writing to you,
I feel a profound happiness welling up inside me,
A love so deep, so boundless, that it overflows.

Let's walk barefoot together again,
Through fields of green, under the canopy of stars.
Let's yoke ourselves to this love,
Not as a burden, but as a beautiful gift,
One that grants us the freedom we've always longed for.

You are my love, my happiness, my freedom.
And in you, I am truly free at last.

Yours forever,

James
