Dear Bapu

We were excited
And delighted too
For having won the freedom
It was all because of your wisdom

How long did you struggle?
For the welfare of the people
To give them an edge over others
And you fought with non-violence and no fears

You wisely advised
To disband
The political party
Which you had built in the country

Today we fear death
For pursuing honest path with an easy breathe
We are gunned down
And the political parties have earned disrepute of their own

You are remembered only when
Their position is threatened
Their political career is at stake
And corruption is brought to book

Whole of the country is divided into cast and creed
There is no halt to their greed
The corruption has become rampant
All people in power wants to become rich instantly
