Dear God Poem by Gerhardus Keen

Dear God

Dear God, this is me
when You look at me what do You see
am I the child that You wanted
or do I serve You only half-hearted
I find myself doubting Your existence
and my faith is met with resistance
like the Bible's king David
I find myself down in the pit
looking for Thy hand to lift me up
but my heart is corrupt
I don't see my way out
my heart is filled with doubt
I've got this burning desire
I want You to lift me higher
to make me stand strong
to prove me wrong
to restore my faith in Thee
to open my eyes that I can see
all the blessings from above
and to experience Thy love
that I may also be a worthy light carrier
and serve Thy army as a warrior
with a song in my heart I will sing
I am a soldier of the one true King
doubt and darkness have no more power over me
for I am a son of God you see
my faith in Him makes me tough
His grace towards me is more than enough
then again I will go on my knees to pray
and these are the words I will say
Dear God, this is me
when You look at me what do You see
with all that I had to overcome
do You see me as Your son
