Dearest Of Darlings Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Dearest Of Darlings

A Summer of sunshine
Few skies ever gray
For the dearest of darlings
Soon the cold and crisp came

Months have passed without feeling
Her light has a dimming array
Winter became the Summer of darkness
On the darkest of days

Once she had youthful beauty
His love filched youth away
Bringing on, this cold winter
From a powerful hate

Until these days of long darkness
Her lover, who left her this way
Hangs the jewel of his pride
A gift from her blade

Thus, she keeps for her love
Dearest Darling's, 'Sweet heart'
Her love none forsaken
Made sure never part
