Death Poem by Michelle Dickson

Death

Sometimes I wonder
And sometimes I fear
That my death is growing
Forever near

Places to go
And places to see
Outside of these walls
You unknowingly made for me

The one who really knows me
The one who really cares
Is someone you’ve tried hard
For me to never have there

I say that you’re wrong
You say that you’re right
When will this argument
Ever be set right

So now my death is here
And I’m in the casket there
Will you say things
That I never really hear?

You will stand in front of them
And tell them how you knew me
But did you ever really care
For what I had to share?

That friend you kept away
That friend you said was bad
Was always there for me
Was my strength in the past.

She will stand on that podium
And tell you things you did not know
She will stand on that podium
And I hope that your horror grows

The horror that you really didn’t know me
The horror that I was someone else
The horror that you cant set right
Now that I have left your dreadful sight.
