Decade Of Mixed Fortunes (2010-2019)

DECADE OF MIXED FORTUNES --THE UGLY SIDE
decade of scams comes to an end
nothing seems to be on the mend
scamsters scoot abroad with the loot
screaming ' to law we care two hoots '
corrupt leaders were sent to jail
few were sentenced, rest out on bail
in dark, terror's masked men, had free run
to kill en masse they didn't shun
China indulged in much mischief
even when Modi hugged their chief
calamities have taken their toll
farmers hurt in their very souls
poverty, a ghost, what to do?
give freebies - they work like voodoo
waived loans, free bus and metro pass
tax that we pay , goes for a toss
money matters are in doldrums
sentiments negative in sum
world trades with us, West twists our arms
to dump; bring our produce to harm
Nirbhaya killed by human sharks
women's safety, a question mark
our leaders, our Achilles heels
with their vote banks, our fates they seal
caste makes us pluck our lovely hair
our backward march , who can repair?
slave mindset from British ruled times
continues, no reason no rhyme
THE SILVER LINING
armed forces are up-to their task
struck terror camps deep inside Pak
Abhinandan's mid-air dogfight
downed dodgy Pak fighter in flight
troops from Doklam, China withdrew
when told: ' if you don't you will rue '
at UN Modi was the star
session's best speech, he raised the bar
to a plan, Modi and Shah work
to foil nasty schemes that lurk
talaq bill muslim women hailed
three seventy - tukde gang wailed
Ayodhya verdict augurs well
Grand temple to end the pell-mell
who is not proud of our scientists?
Mars is done, but much tightfisted
on Moon, Vikram could not soft-land
but ISRO, on right track as planned
DRDO has been making waves
made-in-Bharat, way has been paved
our gutsy girls shone in sports too
Kom, Sindhu, Raj to name a few
cops who shot Disha's tormentors
had quick justice, at mind's centre
anxious neighbors green with envy
to fairest polls, we are privy
our biggest asset, our youth force
we shall be world's best, in due course
