the youngest member, labrador.Rusty
loves people - he is friendly not frosty
pesters, if not.patted
press his back, you are doted
with simple needs, he is, so trusty
at home he is never in a leash
that is the way to keep him pleased
go-to-friend, on a 'bad'day
to raise your spirits he will play,
even hide-and-seek, with.no.baksheesh
caution: he needs to be taken care
sometimes, if. well enough, he does not fare
a vet and a pill, perhaps
can often fill the gaps
but with plenteous love, such things are rare
A well texted and nicely thought out poem, focused and factual. Thanks for sharing, Narayana.

So very true. In most of the households, a dog is the youngest member. He/She is indeed treated like a member of the family. Give a dog affection and it is guaranteed, you'll get it back! A dog never likes to be in leash. It wants to wander free with the members of the family and romp and play! Your labrador friend is beautifully described. I have a poem - A Tribute to my Dog. If interested, you may look through it!
