Deceptive Lover Poem by Jacson Gelato

Deceptive Lover

Rating: 5.0

It is silent and lonely inside
just the two of them
holding each other tightly;
no dogs barking, no owls hooting
only a streetlight is the witness,
thro' the window it can see
what is occurring inside the bedroom.

He is loving her with surreal passion
she is enjoying the delusion,
there are no promises, no vows
it is just another episode of togetherness
sleeping by imaginations
waking up by apprehensions.

The moon is hiding behind the clouds,
suddenly he gets up and is ready to go
out there in the street it is raining
he has to get home to his previous lover,
he rushes out forgetting his hat and wallet
he catches a taxi and promises to pay later
the cab-driver luckily knows him.

Outside the door he knocks softly
he is wet and drowsy,
she is overjoyed to see him
she asks him to make love to her;
‘'maybe tomorrow'' he whispers
he is tired and falls asleep,
he is smelling of alcohol
she thinks he is drunk and innocent.

The sunshine on his face wakes him
he has already forgotten last night
he drinks coffee and rushes
to meet his new lover;
he is not innocent anymore
he is just a crazy lover now
not knowing to whom his heart
will belong to, in the future.
