Divine presence
People flocking the temple
Known to be
The most powerful
Goddess of protection
Ever reciprocating prayers
Of devotees
Near and far
Residing hosts
And people
From nearby hamlets
As well as guests
From all directions
Whatever complexities
Regarding human community
Offering health and wealth
Peace and prosperity
Knowledge and wisdom
To all such devotees
Those true in mind
And true in actions
Having showered praise
So far of the immortal Goddess
One day-
Like as normal as every day
As busy as all the time
People moving in crowds
All of a sudden
Quite unexpectedly
The temple elephant
So calm and composed
Natural and divine
As it is normally
Turned opposite
Going wild
Furious aggression
Picking up the mahout
Throwing him ferociously
Again and again
Until the person
Becomes no more-
A sad occurrence
People working out probabilities
Why the tusker
Went berserk
Reminding us ever
To be pure and true
To our belief
To our consciousness
Whatever happened
Let us pray the Goddess
We are humans
We make errors
Pardon us
We are your children
We believe you
We depend on you
We pray you with
Wholehearted devotion
Show us mercy
Show us your divinity
Show us your blessings!
