Mummy? she said
And I looked down to see
A reflection of an angel
Staring back at me
Why are you crying
Alone in the sea?
Why does your pain
Forever increase?
Don’t you know? I asked
My voice rather hushed
You were taken from me, my sweet
And left in a rush
I wanted one last stroke
Of your beautiful hair
I wanted your ears to hear me
When I whispered ‘I care’
I wished I had felt
The hold of your arms
And heard you whisper ‘I love you’
Just one last time
I wasn’t quite ready
To let you go
And God he ignored me
Though I begged him so
He tore out my heart
When he took you from me
How can I be strong, inside?
How can I believe?
So I laugh when they tell me
'It's with Jesus she plays'
For I know this is not true
Its in the ground
That you lay
That’s why as I stand here
The only face I really see
Is my own aged by tears
Twisted in misery
