Defeating Double Bind Poem by RUP POKHAREL

Defeating Double Bind

Atmosphere above and around
Failed to befriend him;
So the meteorites stroke his fate.

Flimsy wall of his sordid hut
Eased him see around from the bed;
So he read his life-each side.

His thatched roof as old as he
Foundered combating summer shower
So ample nights he spent along pool.

Yet he smiles.

His Earth-limited to standing his hut
Witnessing his interminable misery-
Witnessed his parents' demise,
Witnessed his other-half's demise
Witnessed his only kid's demise.
Appreciates his interior might.

Many go his hands and mouth made
To draw wine-kill his inner fire;
His mind duly denied.

His hands often touched suicide rope
Eyes located apt sites for valediction;
His mind earnestly denied.

His legs attempted for many times
Vacating the hut for anonymous best;
Reminiscence stood- paralyzed him.

Yet he smirks.

He happily cried on seeing
Naked flora of late winter
Casually anticipating Spring.
