Defense Poem by Randy McClave

Defense

The defense agency has banned
These special events across our great land,
From the Presidents executive order
Pertaining to events inside of our own border.
Martin Luther King we will no longer celebrate
The Baptist pastor who stood against hate,
Our government will no longer support that day
But, we're still allowed to pray.
We will celebrate women's history month no more
Women have lost their war,
Our government cares not for the many of them
As they receive our bedlam.
Black history month we are also told to forget
Their month the government will happily omit,
They were just a slave
No great importance to list have they gave.
Juneteenth we can also forget about
Said our president with a smile and a shout,
Why should we celebrate the end of slavery here
No longer is there racism or bigotry or fear.
Holocaust Remembrance Day is also gone
That's past history we must really move on,
What Hitler and the Nazis did to the Jews
I guess we should forget and not hate their views.
Soon other 'special observances' will disappear
Either because of hate or uncaringness or from fear,
Now when they come after another holiday or special events
Who will stand against them in defense.
