Defiant Love Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Defiant Love

My spirit waits the day for you-
Till darkness of the night
So I may come to raise your soul-
And keep you in my life
Lovers cannot be kept apart-
With aching hearts of love
So I defy immortal Gods-
From Heavens up above
In the earth that binds you here-
Inside your mortal grave
Death is not allowed to keep-
For whom my spirit craves
I cast my spell to free your ghost-
So I can be with you tonight
Although the guardians of the graves-
Shall resist me with a fight
A compromise for your sweet love-
Comes with a damning price
I can only be with you my darling-
Until the morning light
As of now, forever, I must sleep the day-
For penance of my sin
To love my woman beyond the grave-
Night must fall again
