Demanding To Get What Has Gone Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Demanding To Get What Has Gone

So rapid is the pace of change.
To salvage anything from a past gone,
With it hope to rejuvenate...
An updating to renovate its appearance,
Is a fruitless undertaking.
Since this time to waste no one can afford.

Ignoring steps to move forward,
Eventually has its regrets.
And remaining unprepared,
For what comes next...
Should be considered a threat.
By anyone who believes,
Changes made...
Will not one day leave them behind.

So rapid is the pace of change.
And...
Unfortunate as this reality is for some,
Most will awaken after these changes come.
To discover and find,
Not only time they have wasted.
But also their minds they could have used.
Refusing to be restricted and limited,
To a sharing of delusions fantasized.
With it to realize too late,
Even then to dream with wishes wanting to get...
Those dreams to fulfill no longer exist.

And then what on this Earth,
Do they expect is going to await...
With patience to take explaining,
Each step they slept through they had missed.
To know they still will not pay attention!
Yet demand,
To get what has gone for its return.
