Deposit Before Treatment Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Deposit Before Treatment

Rating: 5.0

Rushed to the venue at point of death
Luckily made it alive on arrival
Immediate attention required to save life
A young man at prime.

A deposit the hospital required
A policy it is they said
Amount so large the relations can't afford
They begged and begged and begged
No one listened nor willing to
Sternly reminded the criers
Hospital is not a charity home

Tears flowed freely as he fought for life
Her little sister looked up and wailed
'Will you allow him die for money sake'?
No one cared or moved a muscle
A battle he fought to win but could not
One hour from arrival he lost the fight
A look of regret of a failed nation
Who loses her hopefuls to money deposit
When will our messiah come?
