Depression Poem by Dwayne Rankin

Depression

Rating: 5.0

He looked into that deep abyss,
And felt himself begin to fall.
He felt the dark, its gentle kiss;
He heard it softly call.

He looked on down and felt its pull/
That alluring peace that seems do sweet.
When darkness soft as blackened wool,
Then heard its call repeat.

That emptiness within his soul,
It matched that darkness of that pit.
Its call did o'er his heart then roll,
With sounds that would not quit.

With sorrows trapped within his mind;
Those agonies within his core.
Relief alone, he sought to find
Form all the woes he wore.

Then deep within his mind he felt,
A sense of weariness begin.
As o'er that hole he slowly knelt;
And knew he would not win.

Then trapped within his own despair,
He felt himself then float on free.
Caught within that blinding snare,
Into obscurity.

He looked on up into the light,
As he fell into that dark abyss.
Into that realm of starless night;
Into its lasting kiss.

Alone as last in sorrows bound;
The end he new was near.
And so, within that silence found,
He shed his final tear.
