Descending The Rock Steps

Descending the rock steps
That led to the large ledge
Of rock in Qbajjar.

There father, mother, I
Had humble picnic in beauty's lovely eyes
And in salty fresh that rose from the dark sea.

Ah! Alas! That sea was dark and deep
We, small happy family
Did not decipher the black signs.

But only saw the beauty of the place
And spoke happy to the waves
As one small, humble, happy family.

And did not heed the blackness of the waves
That stretched under the ledge we picnicked on
And hid the turbulence of the future years,
