Deserted Shore Poem by Shahin Asmari

Deserted Shore

Rating: 5.0

In the vast empty shore,
I sit on the sand all alone
Under the setting sun,
Gazing at my left and my right,
Recalling the days long gone.

Days back, to the right, a couple walked and talked;
To the left, they sang and said goodbye,
Holding each other’s hands
Resting their heads on the other’s shoulder.
They had so much fun
Under this very sun.

That couple lingers no more,
Leaving a lonely and deserted shore
Which bears only a broken heart
Scattered to pieces by being apart
From the very essence of true love.
