Despised Bird Poem by Nyagaka Charles

Despised Bird

Rating: 4.5

Just as the nightingale praises God
for the newborn day,
The crow hushes in shame for it
is shy,
And the hawk dives at his prey
from high;
The bat feels humiliated and sly
So he retires leaving daylight for
ones with an eye.
The seabird smiles and catches up
with the group,
She knows she'll be safer if she
drop;
While the parrot practices her
words and play,
Cause unlike the ostrich she cant
run to safety,
And unlike the dove she cant be
innocent and pray,
She has to talk her way out of
slay!
Day goes by and as the flightless
emu
Looks up and adores the eagle
soaring the blue,
A flamingo in her nest scorches
in the sun,
And yearns for a weaver's nest
as the storm closes in.
The sparrow enjoys his meal as
the drizzle dies away,
Yet the vulture cant hunt a
delicacy alway.
Watching the hummingbird
hover
Around the blossoming bright
juicy flower,
The woodpecker can only smile
for he knows
He shouldn't loose his grip lest he
fall to his demise! .
The bird in their niche envy the
rest
Yet they know wherever they
are, there they fit,
And there they can call home and
of all conditions, best.
A world of diversities met me at
birth,
I grew in it hoping not to face
the wrath,
But it's my fate, it seems, as long
as i breath,
Hence with the despised bird I'll
share ambition and wit,
That in this my own niche of
spite,
And yeah, in this environment: I
can make it.
