Long ago in the night at nine,
On the dry rugged road so brown,
A donkey brayed on its way
down.

I was buried in the abandoned path to drain,
Covered with soil, out in the rain,
I found strength to rise and reign,
Like grass sprouting on the rugged terrain.

But we lack the energy the tear to dry,

Letter From The Motherland

I was at peace long ago,
My villages and towns stood in
ego,
Crops grew and away men didnt
go,
A calm land I was and they loved
me so!
Then came ones with a library at
hand,
A bible they called it, which no
one could offend,
Great things, we dumped our
gods to attend,
What came next...we couldnt
understand!
For they came with books and
schools,
Our culture we abandoned for
their rules,
Terrified of their guns, pits and
pools,
We chose, 'Let's abide till all these
cools'.
Nothing grew better, we
decided, 'Let's fight, no more
flight and fright',
I watched, it didnt seem right,
For they rose in groups by night,
Paying blood for freedom to
chase plight.
Well, all these did occur,
Looking back, I know we've come
afar.
Though you may not be sitting in
a car,
It's worth viewing the other side
of the scar.
And as we celebrate even though
we differ,
Development and the forward
surge together let's spur,
Freedom we sought and fought
for, we are all at per,
And as your motherland I
say, work harder, and enjoy
Madaraka!
