Devil Of A Dream Poem by Luke Easter

Devil Of A Dream

In a dream late last night,
I was about to shake the devil's hand,
Then I heard the phone ring,
On the other end was the Son of Man.

What are you about to do He asked?
Don’t tell me you’re going to make a deal,
With one who promotes jealousy, hatred & such,
And teaches to lie, cheat and steal.

My Lord, I replied, it was only a dream,
All part of Lucifer's diabolical scheme,
I certainly wouldn’t do that for real,
Throwing away the banana, eating the peel.

This is how Satan begins,
It starts out so innocently,
The devil quietly wants you to feel,
You can trust him and believe.

Satan is very smooth and slick,
Showing up in a dream is not his only trick,
He’ll also come while you are wide-awake,
Although a little more cunning it takes.

He’s really not all that bad,
Just a little misunderstood,
Jesus came to have life more abundantly,
Doesn’t that mean to relax and feel good?

I know sometimes the future looks bleak,
Your health is failing and your body is weak,
You need help but it seems to be miles away,
It will take a week to get there & you need it today.

Remember how the pride attacks the pack,
Not the group at front but one from the back,
This is the only way the devil can succeed,
Entering your mind at its greatest time of need.

This is when you must endure,
Father God is only making sure,
You are worthy of the blessings about to come,
Otherwise, it will go to another one.
