Dima Peace Magic Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Dima Peace Magic

Dima Peace Magic

In Daga Dimuga or Nawp
a language of Papua New Guinea
peacemakers "papat" or "yaumakape otua"
have a job
settlers of disputer
one who stops fighting
exposer of sorcery
cease from bad behavior
finish the job before going on to something else
"imu pose wat vetnagen"
to find the solution to a problem

To be at peace
and stop worrying
"ita anan ninin wan"
to bring peace
cause enemies to be peaceful
ignore someone's insults

"ninin waine nunasewa"
use magic to bring peace
"nonup" another word for peace
" panapen" or "nonup tapen"
exchange goods to end the fighting
be a wise relative
and try not to disappoint
a big job
