Distant Poem by Marc Robinson

Distant

Even thought you are right next to me,
You feel a million miles away.
Even though I am talking to you.
You don't seem to hear me.
I don’t understand why you keep yourself so far away.
When the words you say,
But the actions you make,
Contradict.
You keep all locked away,
And I try to pick the lock.
But when it seems I have
And I open the chest.
There is just another box
With a more intricate lock.
I don’t understand why you choose to be so distant,
When I can see and hear you want to be so close.
I don’t see why you push me away,
When I know all you want is to be embraced.
I can’t help you,
When you don’t seem to want it.

Why when I am right next to you do you seem
To be a million miles away.

Why when I try to be close,
You just seem to get even more
Distant.

Nice and deep. It takes an observant person to realize when someone is pulling away.
