Does Not Remove Poem by Gencay

Does Not Remove

I couldn't forget
I could not forget anything.
I hear the echo of the past
I hear the echo like a scream
From inside to my brain
I'm out of breath, I'm getting narrower
The images are coming in broken but clear
Far away
A cry for help from far away
A hand, a sad look, tears in your eyes
He stretches out his hand to me, the past is called past

Stranded somewhere inside of us
Trying to touch it, pull it off
I want to save it from myself
I'm not the man to be drawn to
Neither can he get rid of me
What am I from him.
Just an echo from the underworld
My childhood is crying
He says this place is full of corpses.

Neither could I save my childhood
Neither myself
From myself.
They are far away, looking into my eyes
They want help from me
I can not do anything
Nothing I do is working
I'm plugging my ears, the sound gets louder
Because it comes from inside, not outside
If I lean on your chest and sleep with my head, will it pass?
It has not passed, it does not pass, it will not!

They have squeezed the world, the universe inside me
Those who live today will die tomorrow
That I hugged and kissed today
Will die like the hugs and kisses yesterday
Everything will die like my childhood
In my heart babies are crying blood
I have already agreed to his acceptance
But here is the heart
Does not remove.
