Again my lord wants to shoot.
It’s nice, but it spoils my mood.
Don’t think I hate hunting.
The trouble is he likes shooting
Everything except wild birds
And animals. Have you heard
Of a hunter like my strange
Lord? He’s 40 years of age,
But I’m sure he’s never
Shot creatures. For a setter
It’s terrible to hear
A shot caressing ears
And see wooden things fall
To the ground. Last night all
The birds that I heard and saw in
The field, when we were walking,
Flew away. I felt they laugh
And I wanted to cry, “Enough! ”
My lord threw up sticks and
Shot two hours on end.
And what does he have me for?
He can't see what I adore!
