Don'T Play That Song Again Poem by Jarid Kool

Don'T Play That Song Again

Here I am at a get together. Everything is going
fine. I thought I was late getting here, but seems
I am on time.

The D.J. plays a song and I am taken a-back. Anything,
but this song, tell me why did he do that?

This song creates too many memories of a love I was
had. Like a time machine here I am visiting my own
past.

There she is in a beautiful dress, the love of my
life is adorned. I'm telling her, 'When your mother
gave birth to you, my love, a star was born.'

She's telling me, 'You are my sun, my moon, my stars
and my whole world. This is so wonderful! I am so
blessed to have you call me your girl.'

Now I see me putting a promise ring on her finger.
She's now crying, by not only this, but by the
words of the song from singer.

Standing there and seeing this, I am frozen in time.
Tears falling down, saying to myself, 'This girl was
once mine.'

The song is now over and I snap back into reality.
People are staring, pointing, looking, asking what's
wrong with me.

Oh I am okay, I was taken a-back just then. I just
have one request D.J., 'Don't play that song again.'
